Plats: Stockholm

At Mathem we are all about convenience. We create more time for whatever people love - cooking, family time, exercise, and work. We are dedicated to creating an outstanding experience for our customers - from planning purchases with your family until the milk is in your fridge. Working with us, you have a rare opportunity to put a positive impact on peoples’ lives. The smile on people’s faces when the groceries are handed over is priceless.

To be able to provide this service to our large group of customers, we are dependent on superb network and server functionality. In this role, you as an experienced technician, will drive our work managing this technical infrastructure at our current offices as well as our future automated warehouse in Larsboda.

This is why you should join us!

At Mathem you will also be part of a creative and helpful environment with a lot of heart. Our international environment consists of skilled but humble people, who really love to share their knowledge. When you want a break, there is probably a colleague up for a game of table tennis or a coffee, or you could just fill your inspiration by watching the beautiful view of Skeppsholmen. The managers will believe in you and have a great openness to your thoughts and way of working. And we will always aim for you to be totally comfortable being yourself!

We look for humble people with the ambition to make a large impact on our customers and our company. You will have all opportunities to do so. Mathem is backed by Kinnevik who has a track record of backing companies that successfully transform industries - from media to telco.

This is what you’ll do

As a Network Technician, you will act as a corresponding second and third line support for network and server matters as well as managing projects regarding implementations, configurations, and planning for future technical environments. One of our upcoming, very interesting projects, is our new automated warehouse. You will have a huge opportunity to build up and set up network design, taking us from the scale-up phase we are in at the moment, to the larger scale.

You will be part of the IT Operations team which is outspread at our offices in Sweden. This role is located at the headquarter in Gamla Stan.

We believe the right candidate could look something like this:

  • 5+ years of experience working with networks and servers
  • Experience in Cisco products, including usage of Cisco CLI
  • Experience in working with dimensioning and capacity planning with servers
  • You have a Swedish work permit and are currently living in Stockholm/Sweden
  • It’s great if you have experience with both Windows and Linux servers

To thrive in this role, we believe you are a person with a great curiosity about technology, and the capability to manage important projects. You find yourself at best in an environment with some ambiguity where your ideas are heard and where you can influence.

We put a lot of emphasis on personal competencies so you may very well compensate for the lack of some of the above-mentioned criteria.

Excited to join our journey?

If you have any further questions on the role, please contact jonathan.soderling@mathem.se

Our selection process is continuous and we may move forward with candidates on an ongoing basis.

Did you know that we at Mathem are working with pure cloud serverless architecture and modern microservices? Interested in working with a cool innovative product that blurs the line between online/offline and having a direct impact on the end-users by making their everyday lives more comfortable?

We're continually challenging ourselves to build great solutions and develop new features to make our shopping experience more enjoyable. Right now we’re looking for more talented Backend Developers to be part of our exciting journey.

This is why you should join us!

At Mathem we’re working with pure cloud serverless architecture and modern microservices. We develop new functions in .Net Core or node.js on AWS Lambda, use DynamoDB table that triggers events on updates that other services can consume, and automatically deploy to our test and production environments using AWS CodePipeline. We strive to continuously nurture a curious and forward-leaning approach to software development, evaluating new technologies as well as open-source. We have a “you build it, you run it” way to develop and operate our software, which includes developers to develop test automation and deploy the code to production.

You’ll be part of a creative and helpful environment with a lot of heart. Our international environment consists of skilled yet humble people, who love to share their knowledge. When you want a break, there’s probably a colleague up for a game of table tennis or a coffee, or you could just fill your inspiration with the beautiful view of Skeppsholmen. We’ll believe in you and have a great openness to your thoughts and way of working, and we’ll always aim for you to be comfortable being yourself! Due to the current situation, most of us are working remotely and that applies to this position as well until things change.

What you’ll do:

As a Software Developer at Mathem, you’ll join an agile cross-functional team of talented Engineers, dedicated to creating a world-class experience for our customers with our website, app, and supply chain.

Depending on your skillset (and interest of course!) you’ll be working in our Supply Chain domain with developing a high-scalable, robust, and cloud-based platform that orchestrates Mathem’s sophisticated supply chain capable of handling the growing market of online grocery shopping, or in our Online Shopping Experience domain with building the backbone for our online user experience of grocery shopping - impacting the whole customer journey and working with everything from that a customer lands on our site, registers, select groceries, checks out and orders delivery.

Both domains come with their unique complex technical challenges. Either way, you’ll be a key player in building the market's best shopping experience!

Who we're looking for:

  • Extensive experience crafting high-scalability, distributed systems in production environments, preferably in C#/.Net Core
  • Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably AWS
  • Experience in one of the CI/CD tool, such as GitLab, GitHub, or similar
  • Experience in unit testing and mocking
  • A passionate developer with an open, lean, and pragmatic mindset
  • You enjoy working as a team and shipping high-quality code that is easy to maintain and extend
  • You're excited to work in a multidisciplinary environment (engineering, algorithms, data engineering/science, product experimentation)
  • A friendly person that appreciates a healthy tech culture
  • You have a Swedish work permit

What are some nice to haves?

  • Understanding of relational and non-relational databases
  • Experience taking ideas from concept to production
  • Experience or theoretical interest in Machine Learning
  • Experience working with A/B-testing
  • Experience working with E-commerce
  • Experience working with Observability
  • Experience working with Elasticsearch
  • Experience working with Event-driven systems

...and most importantly, you enjoy developing cool products that make people’s lives easier!

At Mathem we generally use this tech stack:

AWS

  • A 100% serverless microservice architecture built on AWS services including Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway and EventBridge
  • Bounded and pragmatic contexts
  • Managed services if no serverless (e.g Elasticsearch)
  • Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation & SAM)
  • Observability (Kibana & CloudWatch for logs and Datadog for dashboards, alerts, and metrics)

GCP

  • Analytics (BigQuery, Google Analytics, Google Optimize, GTM, and our own data from AWS)
  • ML (we also use SageMaker in AWS)
  • Datahem

Coding languages (agnostic mindset in general even though C# is the tool for this specific role)

  • .NET Core
  • NodeJS
  • Python

At Mathem we are all about convenience. We create more time for whatever people love - cooking, family time, exercise, and work. We are dedicated to creating an outstanding experience for our customers - from planning purchases with your family until the milk is in your fridge. Working with us, you have a rare opportunity to put a positive impact on peoples’ lives. The smile on people’s faces when the groceries are handed over is priceless.

Speaking about convenience, our search at our website increases our customer experience by facilitating finding the right products. In this role you will be our wizard in the Elasticsearch engine; leading, developing, and creating best practices. Thus, you are not only working towards the end-goal of saving our customers’ time by not having to go to the grocery store, but also directly shorten the time they have to spend placing the orders.

This is why you should join us!

At Mathem we’re working with pure cloud serverless architecture and modern microservices. We develop new functions in C# or node.js on AWS Lambda, use DynamoDB table that triggers events on updates that other services can consume, and automatically deploy to our test and production environments using AWS CodePipeline. We strive to continuously nurture a curious and forward-leaning approach to software development, evaluating new technologies as well as open source. We have a “you build it, you run it” way to develop and operate our software, which includes developers to develop test automation and deploy the code to production.

You will be part of a creative and helpful environment with a lot of heart. Our international environment consists of skilled yet humble people, who love to share their knowledge. When you want a break, there is probably a colleague up for a game of table tennis or a coffee, or you could just fill your inspiration by watching the beautiful view of Skeppsholmen. The managers will believe in you and have a great openness to your thoughts and way of working. And we will always aim for you to be comfortable being yourself! Due to the current situation, most of us are working remotely and that is applied for this position as well until things change.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be part of the team working with the products and recipes on the website. You will be the expert and have a focus on the highly prioritized Elasticsearch. You will set up Elasticsearch clusters from scratch as well as maintaining and managing it. As the expert on the subject, you will also be the go-to person and educate others in the team on Elasticsearch.

The role is mainly backend but if you have an interest in working frontend as well we are open to a full-stack role.

At Mathem we generally use this tech stack:

AWS

  • Serverless (lambda & dynamodb)
  • Event-driven (sqs, sns & event bridge)
  • Microservice architecture (api gateway + lambda)
  • Bounded and pragmatic contexts
  • Managed services if no serverless (e.g Elasticsearch)
  • Infrastructure as Code (Cloudformation & SAM)
  • Observability (kibana & cw for logs and datadog for dashboards, alerts and metrics)

Coding languages (agnostic mindset in general even though C# is the tool for this specific role)

  • dotnet core
  • nodejs
  • python
  • angular
  • react
  • swift
  • kotlin

GCP

  • Analytics (BigQuery, GA, GO, GTM and our own data from AWS)
  • ML (we also use Sagemaker in AWS)
  • Datahem

What we are looking for:

  • Experience and preference in working in C#
  • Experience and good knowledge of Elasticsearch
  • Experience in one of the CI/CD tool, such as GitLab, GitHub, or similar
  • Experience in unit testing and mocking
  • Agile way of thinking based on Scrum/Kanban
  • A balanced way of thinking with respect to both technical excellence and business goals
  • Work permit in Sweden

We would also prefer if you have:

  • Hands-on experience with AWS
  • Experience in working with distributed systems

So… do you wanna go bananas with us?
